Inter Milan have ruled out a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest for midfielder Davide Frattesi.
The Reds are targeting reinforcements for Sean Dyche’s squad before the transfer window closes this evening. The centre of the pitch is one of the areas the club have identified as being in need of strengthening.
Frattesi was first linked with Forest last summer, and at one stage last month a switch to the City Ground appeared possible. However, it seems he is now set to stay put in Italy.

Inter being unable to secure Liverpool’s Curtis Jones as a replacement for Frattesi seems to have killed off the Reds’ chances of snapping up the 26-year-old. He started against Cremonese on Sunday and played 60 minutes as he helped his side secure a 2-0 win in Serie A.
Asked if Frattesi being in the first XI was a sign he wouldn’t be going anywhere, Inter president Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Italia (via Sport Witness): “Yes, of course… We never want to hold back anyone who wants to leave. He’s never expressed this sentiment, which clearly means he’s happy with us. He’s proud of wanting more space, like everyone else, but he’ll have a chance to showcase his abilities, which are positive, during the season.”
Manager Cristian Chivu backed up that stance. He told Sempre Inter: “Frattesi belongs to Inter and for me he is important in the squad. He has to show it, he has to prove it, because we trust his qualities.”

He added: “We are the same 25 players from the start of the season and we’ve tried to involve everyone. There’s one day left but I can’t wait for this transfer window to be over.”
Forest have reportedly had a couple of bids rejected for Celtic midfielder Arne Engels. They have also looked at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yasin Ayari.
In addition to a midfielder, a striker and a left-back are also on the Reds’ shopping list for the final hours of the window. They have until 7pm this evening to wrap up their remaining business, having brought in striker Lorenzo Lucca and goalkeeper Stefan Ortega so far.
