Final attempt made for deal with Tottenham – Thomas Frank’s words acting as ‘cold shower’

Last week, TuttoSport explained that everything was going wrong for Juventus in a move for Tottenham’s Randal Kolo Muani.

The striker started and scored against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. This gave Thomas Frank a big reason to keep the striker in the middle of an injury crisis at the club.

The Dane was blocking Kolo Muani’s exit, causing annoyance to the Italian club.

It now seems like the player will stay at Tottenham, as Juventus have made one ‘final attempt’ for the France international.

This comes from today’s Corriere dello Sport, who note Kolo Muani’s involvement in Spurs’ 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday. The newspaper see this as another sign that the forward’s loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain will not be terminated.

The report describes the situation as ‘very complicated’ for the Bianconeri. This probably indicates that Tottenham rejected Juve’s final approach too.

Gazzetta dello Sport look at Frank’s comments about Kolo Muani after the draw against the Citizens.

The Spurs manager reiterated a desire to keep the player. Juve view this as a real ‘cold shower’, even if CEO Damien Comolli continues to pressurise Tottenham through the player and his entourage.

Kolo Muani himself is keen on the deal. The Bianconeri were relying purely on that to execute an unlikely transfer.

Now, time is running out to iron out a complex deal. Mauro Icardi is emerging as a back-up option. It shows that Juve wasted a lot of time on a move which was always going to be difficult.
