Arsenal are looking to recruit 18-year-old striker James Wilson from Hearts as they seek to strengthen their attacking options at academy level.
Wilson made his professional debut two years ago and has since scored eight goals in 45 appearances. His progress has earned him two call-ups to the Scotland senior squad, with his international debut coming last March in a 3-0 Nations League defeat to Greece. He has also scored four goals in five appearances for Scotland’s under-21s.
Wilson is under contract at Hearts until 2027, having penned new terms last April. BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel and Fabrizio Romano report discussions currently centre around a loan deal.
Last summer, the Gunners missed out on Will Wright from Salford, with Liverpool winning that particular race, and have also had recent approaches for England under-18 international Igor Tyjon knocked back by Blackburn Rovers. Tyjon is expected to be available for around £200,000 next summer when his current deal expires.
