Viral fan who won’t cut hair until Man Utd win 5 in a row issues update after Fulham game

The Manchester United fan who is refusing to cut his hair until the Red Devils win five games in a row has spoken out following the team’s dramatic 3-2 win over Fulham on Sunday.

United have now beaten Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham since Michael Carrick was appointed interim manager on January 13. The club’s transformation since Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim has been nothing short of remarkable.

However, United were forced to work out for their latest three points. Goals either side of half-time from Brazilian duo Casemiro and Matheus Cunha put the hosts 2-0 up at Old Trafford before two late goals from Fulham’s Raul Jimenez and Kevin turned the game on its head.

Carrick’s side, though, showed their fighting spirit by scoring the winning goal in the 94th minute through substitute Benjamin Sesko, who produced a fabulous finish when it mattered most. The win means United sit fourth in the Premier League table after 24 matches, 12 points behind leaders Arsenal, six points behind Manchester City, and just five behind Aston Villa.

The United Strand Issues Update

United’s third win on the bounce also means viral fan Frank Ilett is now one big step closer to finally being able to cut his hair. The supporter, who is also known online as ‘The United Strand’, hasn’t had a haircut since October 2024 and is often referred to by the media and fans alike whenever the Red Devils win a game.

Speaking after the win over Fulham, Frank, who underwent a temporary makeover on The Last Leg, said on Instagram: "That was a bit of an edgy end to the game but three wins in a row and Carrickball continues. What a run this is and Carrick is making a stronger and stronger case to become the permanent manager.

"It's not even just about the results, it's about the performances as well. We look livelier, full of more ideas and full of more character.

"Some Brazilian brilliance on show today. Cunha with a great finish and it's always nice to see Casimiro with a smile on his face. He's always a threat from set-pieces and a cheeky no-look assist too. I'm so gonna miss him when he leaves in the summer."

He added: "I think this one was always going to be a tough test. Before the game I was actually more nervous than I was before the City and Arsenal games.

"Like I said it was a bit edgy at the end there but we showed character to get the winner. Don't doubt Sesko, he's just getting started.

"Three wins down, two to go, I better start planning this haircut."
