Man Utd youngster set to make transfer deadline day loan move, it's a perfect fit - Journalist

Manchester United are not expected to have a busy transfer deadline day this month, although the chances are there will be loan departures.

While there were rumours to the contrary, Ineos were never going to do much business in the winter transfer window.

This is because Manchester United have just 14 games left to play, so depth shouldn’t be an issue, and the current squad is absolutely good enough to get top four.

However, the loan list was always going to grow.

Harry Amass has joined Norwich City but now faces a frustrating period on the sidelines due to injury. While Toby Collyer made the move to Hull City, where he hopes to be key in the promotion charge.

Now, another player is set for a move.

This is according to Simon Stone, with the BBC Sport journalist tweeting that Devaney is now expected to join Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on loan for the remainder of this season.

Devaney desperately needed a loan in order to continue developing, as he hit a ceiling for the youth side and isn’t considered ready to step up.

The most important thing from the loan is playing time, and Devaney should get lots of minutes for St Mirren.

Jacob Devaney should shine at St Mirren on loan from Manchester United

For any St Mirren fans wondering how good Devaney is, go and watch his performance for the Republic of Ireland U21s against England.

Devaney dominated the midfield against Jobe Bellingham, which prompted his dad and EFL coach Martin Devaney to tweet praise for his son’s performance against regular Premier League players.

St Mirren are eight games without a win and clearly need some quality in the midfield, which Devaney would bring in abundance, being physically ready for the challenge of professional football.

The Scottish side line-up in variations of a 3-5-2, meaning Devaney will likely play as one of the three, with Killian Philips, a player he could replace.

St Mirren are a side drastically underperforming and so Devaney should be able to get into the team without much trouble.

He could be the perfect fit as they look to avoid relegation, and it could set Devaney up for a bigger loan next summer.
