Manchester City may sanction the Deadline Day exit of a star for the future

Manchester City have reportedly sanctioned the transfer deadline day exit of young forward Justin Oboavwoduo, who is set to join Juventus ahead of the deadline on Monday night.

City have been one of the busier sides in the Premier League in terms of incomings this month, with Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi arriving to step right into Pep Guardiola’s starting XI at the Etihad. There may still be time for further exits in addition to the sale of Oscar Bobb to Fulham for £27million and of Stefan Ortega to Nottingham Forest.

One player touted for an exit is 19-year-old forward Oboavwoduo, who has scored 44 goals and bagged 18 assists across 111 matches for City’s Under-18, U19 and U21 sides but has not made his first-team debut.

The England U20 international spoke to ManchesterWorld back in 2024 about his desire to learn from and emulate Erling Haaland, but could instead become the latest City academy star to depart in search of more regular first-team minutes elsewhere.

Oboavwoduo arrives at Juventus

Sky Sport Italy reported on Sunday that Oboavwoduo is set for a medical with Juventus, with the 2006-born gem expected to become a part of Juve’s Next Gen side which competes in Serie C.

Further reports on Monday morning stated that the signing ‘had been closed in the past few hours’, with Oboavwoduo becoming a Juve player alongside fellow teenage star Adin Licina from Bayern Munich.

Reporting continues that Oboavwoduo is ‘one of the most interesting profiles to come out of the Man City youth team’ and can play in multiple positions across the front line including at striker, second striker and as a winger. Juventus hope that with the signings of Oboavwoduo and Licina, they can uncover the next Kenan Yildiz, who arrived from Bayern as a 17-year-old and has become a star man for the Old Lady in three seasons in Turin.

Oboavwoduo was captured on video arriving at Juve in a post uploaded to X by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio and is expected to see his Man City exit officially confirmed today.
