Fiorentina are making a deadline day attempt to sign defender Kosta Nedeljkovic from Aston Villa.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio. The journalist reports that Fiorentina have turned their attention to the Aston Villa youngster on the final day of the January transfer window.
According to his information, they are ‘trying’ for the right-back. He makes no mention of whether this is for a loan deal or a permanent transfer.
The 20-year-old right-back is currently on loan at RB Leipzig from Aston Villa. He joined them in February last year, with that deal due to expire in the summer. He’s only made 17 appearances for the German side, though, and has only made six appearances totalling 297 minutes this season. He’s spent the last five league games on the bench as an unused substitute.
That has, seemingly, led Fiorentina to try and take him instead. Whether they’re looking at a loan or a permanent deal isn’t clear. Any arrangement would require an agreement between Aston Villa and Leipzig first. Although, given Nedeljkovic’s lack of minutes this season, that shouldn’t prove too hard to work out.
We’ll wait for more details before getting too excited. But it seems Fabio Paratici, now Fiorentina’s director of football, is keen to fish in English waters once again on deadline day, albeit with German permission.
