Edwards pleading with Wolves to sign "clinical" star, he's way better than Armstrong & Adams -…

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the market to sign a new centre-forward before the deadline passes tonight because Jorgen Strand Larsen is on his way out of the door.

The Norway international, who scored 15 Premier League goals during his time at the club, is poised to join Crystal Palace in a £48m deal before the end of the transfer window.

Southampton attacker Adam Armstrong is set to sign for the club in a £9m deal, but he only scored two goals in the Premier League last season when his side were relegated from the top-flight.

The Old Gold have also made a move to sign Scotland international Che Adams, who has scored four goals in the Serie A this term, from Torino. Adam and Armstrong played together during their time at St. Mary's.

Edwards pushing Wolves to sign another striker

Rob Edwards may not be done with the current and former Southampton strikers, though, as he wants the club to reinvest the money that is set to be brought in from the sale of Strand Larsen.

Despite the club being sat on eight points in the Premier League table and being on course to be relegated down to the Championship, the manager wants more business to be done.

According to SportsBoom, Edwards is pleading with the club's board to spend the majority of the cash that Palace are paying for Strand Larsen, to bolster his squad for the second half of the season.

The report claims that Girona centre-forward Vladyslav Vanat is being considered as an option to do just that, and the manager could get his wish if the club decide to splash the cash on the Ukraine international.

However, the outlet does not reveal how much the Spanish side would demand for the 24-year-old striker, or if Wolves are set to make an offer in the coming hours.

Why Wolves should bid for Vanat

The Premier League strugglers should put a bid in for the Girona centre-forward because he would be a way better option than both Armstrong and Adams if they can get a deal over the line.

As aforementioned, Armstrong only scored two goals in the Premier League last season for Southampton, which does not suggest that he would have much of an impact in the top-flight.

Adams, meanwhile, only scored five goals in 28 matches in the Premier League in the 2022/23 campaign for the Saints, and is currently on four goals in the Serie A for Torino.

Vanat, however, has scored seven goals in 19 matches in LaLiga for Girona so far this season, and was recently described as unstoppable by the league's official X account.

He would be a clear upgrade on Armstrong, given his big struggles in top-flight football in the past, but he would also be better than Adams, who currently plays in the Italian top-flight.

As you can see in the table above, Vanat has offered a greater threat in front of goal for his side and been far more efficient with the chances that have come his way in the box.

The Girona striker was once described as a "clinical" player by U23 scout Antonio Mango, which is further backed up by his form for Dynamo Kyiv last season. He scored 17 goals with a conversion rate of 35% in 28 league matches for his club, earning a move to Girona last summer.

Vanat was clinical in Ukraine and has been clinical in LaLiga since his move to one of Europe's top five leagues, which suggests that he would be a clinical striker for Wolves if they can get a deal done.

His record in recent seasons suggests that he would be a way better option than Armstrong and Adams, given their respective struggles in the Premier League and in Italy, which is why Edwards is right to be pleading with the board to splash the cash to get this deal done.
