Michael Carrick will be looking to add to his squad as Manchester United prepare for their weekend Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
Michael Carrick will be looking to continue Manchester United’s brilliant form as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Satruday afternoon.
Since the former midfielder took charge at Old Trafford, United have recorded three wins against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham, with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Bruno Fernandes back to their very best.
The club are chasing Champions League spots and has been holding down a position fourth in the league table, and Tottenham’s trip to Manchester is another chance to secure three points and continue flexing their attacking muscles.
Spurs are in their own world of trouble. Despite drawing 2-2 with City last weekend, they sit 14th in the Premier League. When the two sides met earlier this season in North London, Matthijs de Ligt rescued a late point for United during a 2-2 draw.
After Joshua Zirkzee returned to the squad on the weekend, Carrick will be hoping he can add another to the pack by the time the two sides line up on Saturday for a lunchtime kick-off.
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu
What happened: In the second half against Arsenal, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu pulled up with a hamstring issue and was substituted with ten minutes to play. Reports then suggested he could be out for up to ten weeks.
What’s been said: “Pat, unfortunately, he’s going to be out for a period of time,” Carrick confirmed last week. “We’re still working through how long that’s going to be.”
Possible return date: Late March or early April.
Mason Mount
What happened:Mason Mount was not included in the squad that faced Fulham, with 18-year-old Shea Lacey added in his place.
What’s been said: “He took a bit of a knock in training, so it’s nothing serious,” Carrick said on Sunday. “So obviously disappointed that he’s not with us today, but he’ll be back very, very soon.”
Possible return date: 7 February – Tottenham (H).

What’s been said: “De Ligt is not training with us,” Carrick said last Friday. The United boss has previously stated he feels the Netherlands international is a few weeks away from returning.
Possible return date: Late February.
