While Everton have been looking out for potential deals, the club have been keen not to sign players just for the sake of it.

Ultimately, it’s been suggested the club don’t necessarily think there is the best value in this window, and there should be much more activity in the summer.

But it looks like George will be signing, after Everton reached an agreement with Chelsea on Sunday. The player is having his medical today ahead of a loan move.

And it’s a swoop that Evertonians are getting behind, given the player’s promise – and there is potentially another positive aspect to this move.

Everton target Tyrique George has already shown his quality vs Fulham

In an ideal world, George will take as little time as possible getting up to speed for Everton.

The fact that he’s not played much at Chelsea is sure to mean he has fire in his belly, and is keen to burst out of the traps on Merseyside.

It will be interesting to see if George will get the nod from David Moyes straight from the off against Fulham.

He will be able to get a few training sessions under his belt, so there could well be a temptation for the manager, especially given the form of Dwight McNeil and Tyler Dibling at the moment.

But whether he starts or not, Fulham are a team who have been on the receiving end of George’s quality before.

Indeed, last season, George actually scored his first senior goal against the Cottagers in a 2-1 win for Chelsea at Craven Cottage.

The youngster was picked out on the edge of the box and fired in a brilliant low strike into the corner to put his side ahead. It was a goal that earned Chelsea all three points.

For his efforts, he was handed an 8/10 rating by football.london, who said of him: “What a finish from the young man. A first Premier League goal. What a few games it has been for the teenager!”

George a positive move by Everton

It has been a bit of a frustrating transfer window with Everton having been quite passive.

But it is ending in positive fashion with the signing of George, who is a player who’ll provide some fresh impetus out wide.

If you could sign one player, who would it be Everton fans? 🤩

The wide areas are weak for Everton.

While Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye have done well, the options in reserve have left a lot to be desired.

George is a pacey and direct player who will hopefully increase the threat level out wide, and serve up plenty of chances for the likes of Thierno Barry and Beto.
