Two Man United players were linked with Premier League moves earlier in the transfer window.

It’s not usual to say that’s its been a quiet transfer window at Old Trafford, but Manchester United haven’t made any major signings or sales in January, despite several reports linking players to and from Old Trafford.

As the 7pm deadline edges ever closer, many United fans will be wondering if we’re going to see some movement from the club with regards to a potential transfer, but it does look unlikely.

There are two Man United players who have been linked with Premier League moves away this month; however, they look more likely to stay than leave, as we approach the deadline.

Ugarte and Zirkzee are expected to stay at United

However, it now seems that both players are set to stay at United and help Michael Carrick try to get the Red Devils into the top four come the end of the season. Sky Sports Journalist Dan Khan confirmed that it is very unlikely that either will make a move before the deadline.

He said: “I'm expecting a quiet day here at Carrington. No incomings at this stage. In terms of departures, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte have been linked constantly with moves away, but as I've said throughout this window, that was always going to be unlikely."

It seems like the duo will have to wait until the summer if they are to leave Old Trafford. But the lack of departures also indicates that United aren’t expected to make any major signings on deadline day either.

Two loan exits could be confirmed today

In terms of potential player departures for Man United on deadline day, it looks to be just a couple of loan moves for younger players. Firstly, striker Ethan Wheatley, who returned from his loan at Northampton Town earlier in the month after failing to make much of an impact for the Cobblers.

The other potential exit involves James Scanlon, who United want to send out on loan to get more regular game time for the remainder of the season. It is understood there is significant interest from Swindon Town in the Gibraltar international, and he looks set to join the League Two side on a loan for the rest of the year.
