hat is going to be a no-go for the youngster, given that it is the number which Jarrad Branthwaite wears for Everton.

In the past, George has worn the numbers seven, 11 and 12 for Chelsea, but they are all taken by current Everton players.

The winger has also played in the number 14 shirt for Chelsea’s U21s, which is currently available for selection on Merseyside.

Dwight McNeil is wanted by Nottingham Forest and Sean Dyche on deadline day.

A potential departure for the midfielder would free up the number seven shirt, but Forest are running out of time to get that done.

Which Everton players have previously worn number 14

Beto recently gave up the number 14 shirt to take the vacant number nine following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s departure over the summer.

The recent history of the number 14 shirt has not exactly provided Everton with many positive memories.

Player Seasons Active

Beto 23/24 – 24/25

Andros Townsend 21/22 – 22/23

Cenk Tosun 17/18 – 20/21

Yannick Bolasie 16/17

Oumar Niasse 15/16

However, there are some former greats in the list to have donned the shirt over the years.

Kevin Kilbane wore the shirt along with players such as Francis Jeffers, Tony Grant, Kevin Sheedy and Pat Nevin to name just a few.

A number of Premier League greats have also worn the number 14, which may prove the obvious choice for George.
