Rafa Benitez signs former Newcastle star and Geordie set for Premier League return

The fact that we’re talking about former Mags who are on the move today probably tells you a lot about Newcastle United’s lack of activity on deadline day.

Jamaal Lascelles is off to Leicester after almost 12 years on Tyneside, Arsenal’s reported ‘approach’ for Sandro Tonali has been rubbished, and Matt Targett will NOT be returning early from his loan spell at Middlesbrough.

So, what else is happening on deadline day and which former Newcastle players have found new clubs?

Starting with Moussa Sissoko, the Frenchman is set to be reunited with ex-Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez out in Greece, with Panathinaikos signing the 36-year-old from Watford on a permanent deal.

Moving to another Championship side, Southampton look set to sell Geordie striker Adam Armstrong on deadline day, with the former Toon talent set to join Wolves.

In a move that would see Armstrong replace Palace-bound Jorgen Stand Larsen, the 28-year-old is set to cost Wolves a reported £7m, plus £2m in add-ons, seeing him land an unlikely return to the Premier League after 11 Championship goal this season.
