Manchester United reach agreement with lower league club for 20-year-old prospect's exit

Manchester United attacking sensation Ethan Wheatley is all set to join English third-tier club Bradford City on loan.

Manchester United academy graduate Ethan Wheatley is all set to move to EFL League One. According to a report from The Sun, the 20-year-old attacking prospect will be joining Bradford City on loan on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

Wheatley has come up the ranks at Manchester United. The youngster got promoted to their first team last summer, and he was then sent out on loan to Northampton Town. While he was doing a great job at the third-tier club, the Red Devils recalled him last month, with a view to sending him out on loan again.

In his 22 league outings for Northampton Town, he bagged three goals and as many assists. The youngster’s performances in the first half of the campaign have ensured that the interest in his services remains sky high.

Since Ethan Wheatley is not yet ready to feature in Manchester United’s first team, they feel another loan spell could certainly help his cause. If he manages to continue growing at a rapid pace, his future will be re-evaluated next summer.

Bradford have signed Wheatley on loan

For now, Bradford City are pushing hard to sign Ethan Wheatley on loan, having watched him do wonders for rival club Northampton Town in the third division. The 20-year-old looks set to swap a relegation-battling third-tier team for a team that is pushing for promotion to the second division.

While the deal is yet to be made official, the transfer is considered a done deal. Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann did suggest last week that Bradford City had signed Wheatley, and it certainly did not go down well with Graham Alexander.

Back then, he suggested that when they signed a player, they would let their fans know, implying nothing had been done yet. However, a lot seems to have gone down in the past few days. Bradford now seem to have an agreement in place with Manchester United and the young attacking prospect; the transfer announcement is just around the corner.
