Just in: Crystal Palace making 'shock' late move to sign Everton star, ready to pay £20m

Crystal Palace are making a shock late move for Everton star Dwight McNeil, according to reports - with the Eagles looking to get more than one deal across the line with just hours left in the window.

Palace have been busy in the transfer window, landing Brennan Johnson and Evann Guessand in the winter market, though they have seen departures for Naouirou Ahamada and club captain Marc Guehi in a real shake up of the guard at Selhurst Park.

Elsewhere, Jorgen Strand Larsen has undergone his medical in south London, and Jean-Philippe Mateta could be on his way to Italian outfit AC Milan in a whirlwind finalday of the season. But it's McNeil who could steal the show in the capital with Palace thought to be interested in the Everton star.

Report: Crystal Palace Willing to Pay Everton £20m For Dwight McNeil

The report by Alan Nixon on his Patreon account states that Palace are willing to pay £20million to sign the former Burnley star, who has fallen out of favour at the Hill Dickinson Stadium under David Moyes due to the loan signing of Jack Grealish.

Although Grealish is injured until the end of the season, Everton do have Iliman Ndiaye who can play on the left, and now Chelsea starlet Tyrique George is set to join the Toffees on loan, which could punch McNeil back down the pecking order.

The main hinderance is that Everton would only have five or so hours to find a replacement for McNeil, should they accept a bid from Palace, and it would mean a manic few hours on Merseyside.

However, Palace have added well to their wide right ranks in Johnson and Guessand - but the left side could need work and that is where McNeil would come into their ranks.

The Rochdale-born talent started on the bench for Everton in the early parts of the season, only making his first start just before Christmas, but he's only grabbed one assist in the league and Palace could offer him a fresh start.
