Just in: Crystal Palace star Mateta’s move to AC Milan collapses - Sky Sports

Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta is set to remain at the club heading into the final hours of the transfer window, according to reports - with AC Milan pulling out of a move to land the French talisman.

Mateta has downed tools in south London over the past few weeks, with manager Oliver Glasner announcing he is set to depart the dugout at the end of the season, and defender Marc Guehi leaving for Manchester City earlier in the window.

As a result, Palace agreed a £30million fee with Milan for his exit, with Jorgen Strand Larsen being touted as his replacement - but the French striker looks as though he is set to remain in the English capital, for now.

The report by Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio states that Mateta will remain a Crystal Palace player for the time being - with a deal taking him to AC Milan falling through.

Mateta, who had travelled to Paris for a medical that would potentially see him move to AC Milan, is seeing Jorgen Strand Larsen arrive at Selhurst Park as his replacement, with Palace agreeing a fee of up to £48million for the Norwegian.

However, he won't wear the AC Milan shirt after further checks and verifications. Reports emerged that Mateta's medical raised potential knee problems, and now the San Siro outfit have backed out.
