Fulham are hoping to keep hold of their key man beyond the end of the January window
Marco Silva’s side are sat in 8th place in the Premier League table after 24 fixtures. They lost 3-2 away at Manchester United over the weekend. Raul Jimenez and Kevin got their goals against the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Fulham poised to keep hold of Harry Wilson
Retaining the services of Wilson until the end of the season would be a big boost for Fulham. He has become one of their most prized assets over recent times. The Wales international is out of contract in late June though.
He is due to become a free agent in the summer as things stand. The Wrexham-born man joined the Whites back in 2021 on an initial loan deal that was later made permanent. He has since made 172 appearances and he has scored 34 goals, nine of which have come in this campaign.
Wilson, 28, started his career at Liverpool and rose up through their academy. He went on to play twice for the first-team during his time at Anfield. The attacker also had loan spells away from the Merseyside giants at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, AFC Bournemouth and Cardiff City to get some experience under his belt and to boost his development.
What now for Harry Wilson at Fulham?
Most signs point towards Wilson cutting ties with Fulham when this term ends. That means Leeds, Everton and Crystal Palace will be able to land him for nothing. With the way things are going, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see other teams join the race for his services in the meantime.
Silva has recently said: "We are in the fight, we are trying to keep him. If you ask me if it's going to be easy, I say it's not going to be easy. The more he scores, many more clubs are going to be around him. This is football business. When a player goes to the end of his contract, this kind of thing is going to happen. I know he's happy in our club and how much he's enjoying the moment. It's up to the club to do the maximum to keep him."
He added: "He's been brilliant for us. He's on a great run but it's from the first day of the season. He's been able to take the responsibility on his back, to be decisive.”
