Tyrell Malacia has been linked with a move away from Manchester United throughout the winter transfer window.
Tyrell Malacia was closing in on a move to Turkiye, but Manchester United have now pulled the plug on the deal following Patrick Dorgu’s injury, which will keep him in the treatment room for the foreseeable future.
According to Voetbal International, the Dutch defender is currently in disbelief over Manchester United’s decision. Malacia was reportedly waiting to board the plane to Turkiye, but Jason Wilcox called in and prevented the transfer.
Tyrell Malacia is not a key player for Manchester United, and he is behind Luke Shaw and Dorgu in the pecking order. However, Manchester United could need him after the injury blow to Dorgu. It will be interesting to see whether they can give the defender more opportunities in the second half of the season. He will be desperate to play regularly.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old wide man’s contract with Manchester United expires in the summer, and he will look to leave them on a free transfer at the end of the season. He would’ve hoped to play more often during the second half of the season with a move to Turkey. Instead, he will be a squad option for Manchester United now until the end of the campaign.
Manchester United needed to keep Malacia
Manchester United are pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification, and they need more options at their disposal. The decision to pull the plug on the transfer, especially after the injury blow, makes a lot of sense.
Even though Tyrell Malacia will be unhappy with the decision, Manchester United need to act in their best interests, and the Red Devils have made the right call. It will be interesting to see if the defender can convince Michael Carrick to give him more opportunities now that he is likely to stay at the club until the end of the season.
Recent reports suggested that the Dutchman was supposed to hold crunch talks with Carrick. The player is at the peak of his career right now, and sitting on the bench at Manchester United will be frustrating for him. However, Malacia now has no option but to accept the decision from the Premier League club.
