Fabrizio Romano confirms ex Rangers star to leave Everton for Deadline Day Serie A transfer…

The Scotland international could be on the move amid a lack of game time for Everton

Ex-Rangers defender Nathan Patterson could be set to join a growing number of Scottish players in Serie A with a Deadline Day move to Genoa on the cards, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Romano has reported the Italian club are exploring a loan deal for the injury-prone Scotland international, who has struggled for regular game time at Premier League side Everton.

It’s claimed Genoa view the right-back as a direct replacement for Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who is expected leave the club ahead of tonight’s 7pm deadline.

The 24-year-old’s restricted minutes could ensure Patterson becomes the latest Scot to head for Italy. He has made only six Premier League appearances for the Toffees so far this season and another in the FA Cup.

He came off the bench in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Brighton - a result that saw Everton extend their unbeaten domestic run to four games.

Romano tweeted via his X account: “EXCL: Genoa explore deal to sign Nathan Patterson from Everton on loan, only if Norton Cuffy leaves the club before the Deadline.”

Genoa eyeing last-minute transfer swoop for Nathan Patterson

Patterson joined the Merseyside club from Rangers in January 2022, but injuries have severely disrupted his progress to such an extent that he has made just 29 English top-flight starts in his four years at Goodison Park.

Everton have yet to welcome any new signings this month, but Patterson likely exit could lead to a late flurry of activity. He could follow in the footsteps of Hibs striker Kieron Bowie who completed a permanent £6 million switch to Hellas Verona over the weekend.

Other Scottish stars currently plying their trade out in Italy include Lewis Ferguson at Bologna, Napoli duo Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour, Lennon Miller at Udinese, Che Adams at Torino and Josh Doig at Sassuolo.
