Man United fans wear clown masks during latest protest against club owners as frustration spilled onto the streets before kickoff.
The Man United Fans Protest Turns Loud Ahead Of Fulham Clash
Manchester United fans took their anger straight to the club’s doorstep on Sunday. Wearing clown masks, hundreds marched toward Old Trafford to send a clear message to those in charge. The protest was led by The 1958, a fan group that has long challenged the direction of the club.
Chants were loud and banners were raised as well. In addition, red smoke drifted through the air as the march moved down Sir Matt Busby Way. The timing was no accident. The demonstration came just hours before the Premier League match against Fulham. That put the spotlight firmly on ownership issues rather than football matters.
Meanwhile, police estimated between 500 and 600 fans took part. The event went past without any arrests. For many fans, the masks were a symbol. They believe the club they love is being run like a circus.
Glazers And Ratcliffe Face Growing Fan Fury
The protest was aimed at both past and present power figures. The Glazer family, who took control in 2005, remain deeply unpopular amongst the supporters. They blame years of debt, poor planning, and missed chances for the club’s slide since their last league title in 2013.
While, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe also came under fire. This comes despite hopes he would steady the ship after taking charge of football operations in 2024. Though his arrival brought change, it also had ticket price rises, job cuts, and constant boardroom noise. Now, many supporters feel promises of revival have not matched reality on the field or off it.
Author’s Opinion:
The protest was loud and direct. Until fans see real change, these scenes around Old Trafford will keep returning.
