Young Leeds United defender Reuben Lopata-White has sealed a deadline day move move to s Scottish Championship side.

Lopata-White, 20, has made 16 appearances for United’s under-21s so far this season, including in the EFL Trophy and National League Cup..

The centre-half was part of the Leeds under-18s team that reached the final of the 2024 FA Youth Cup and the defender has now joined second tier Scottish side Greenock Morton on a loan deal until the end of the season.

A statement from Greenock Morton read: “Greenock Morton are delighted to announce the signing of Reuben Lopata-White from Leeds United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

“A product of the Leeds United Youth Academy, the 20-year-old defender has impressed for the Whites’ Under-18s and Under-21s sides in recent years, earning him his first professional contract with the English Premier League side in July 2024.

“Reuben was also part of the Leeds United academy team that reached the final of the FA Youth Cup in 2024.”

Greenock Morton boss Ian Murray beamed: “I am delighted to get this deal over the line and welcome Reuben to the club.

“He is an extremely promising young defender who will provide crucial depth and competition to the defence as we head into an extremely important part of the season.

“I would like to thank Leeds United for their help and assistance to allow this deal to take place and for their trust in my coaching staff and I with the next stage in Reuben’s development.”

A statement from Leeds United read: “Leeds United Academy defender Reuben Lopata-White has joined Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton on a loan deal until the end of the 2025/26 season.

“The centre-half has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s side so far this term, notably gaining valuable senior experience in the EFL Trophy and National League Cup.

“Lopata-White heads to Cappielow Park with Dougie Imrie’s side currently seventh in the Scottish second-tier, just six points adrift of the Play-Offs.

“Everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Reuben well during his time north of the border and we will be monitoring his progress closely.”
