Manchester United inform second star he will‘leave for free this summer’alongside Casemiro

Manchester United have reportedly informed a second of their senior players that they will leave the club for free alongside Casemiro this summer.

Manchester United will be seeing several key stars depart the club this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to oversee his rebuild of the first-team squad.

It has already been confirmed that Casemiro will be departing once his contract expires at the end of June, while the situation of Harry Maguire remains open, too, with the defender’s deal expiring on 30 June.

There is also a major question surrounding Bruno Fernandes. After this season, he will have one year left on his deal and has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League for several seasons. Talks are set to be held with the club captain once the campaign ends.

At the same time, the club is also looking for a permanent head coach. Following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, Michael Carrick was appointed in the position until the end of the season, but the current expectation is for the Englishman to step aside for a long-term replacement in the summer.

Malacia told he will leave for free

Following the announcement that Casemiro will be departing at the end of the current campaign, the club have reportedly informed left-back Tyrell Malacia that he will be handed the same fate.

News broke on Monday afternoon that United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, had cancelled Malacia’s proposed move to Turkey just as he was about to board a plane to Istanbul, stating that the Dutchman would be remaining at United.

According to various reports, this has left Malacia feeling frustrated and disappointed, as he was willing to move to Turkey to play ahead of the World Cup.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club have also incormed Malacia that he will be leaving the club in the summer as a free agent, much like Casemiro.

Should United let Maguire leave as well?

With Malacia and Casemiro both certainties to be heading out the door this summer, the third big quetsion surrounds Maguire and his future.

While he has been brilliant at times this season, the English veteran defender has also had his fair share of injury issues, leading many to believe he is unreliable and therefore should not be handed a new contract.

United are moving back to playing with two central defenders instead of three, and with the likes of Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martínez, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and a few Academy stars in their ranks, it may be best to let the £80 million signing leave.

This would free up space for United to secure a new centre-back if needed, or add to their midfield instead, also cutting Maguire’s £190,000 a week wage off the books.
