A player signed by Manchester United on the transfer deadline last summer has given Ineos plenty to think about as they continue to rebuild the squad for future success.
It has been a busy month for Manchester United, but not in terms of transfers because the Red Devils have yet to welcome any new arrivals.
January began with United’s draw 1-1 with Leeds at Elland Road. That led to Ruben Amorim getting the sack, only to be succeeded by Michael Carrick two weeks ago.
Carrick has made plenty of changes to the team since taking charge, with his first three games against three teams in the top half of the table, but it would come as a surprise if United brought any new players to the squad ahead of Monday night’s deadline.

The jury is still out for United’s latest signings, who arrived in the summer, but Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have shown the significance of having Premier League experience by hitting the ground running at Old Trafford.
That said, the attacking duo are not the only new signings making a good impression in their debut season at United.

Man Utd made the right call with Senne Lammens transfer
Senne Lammens has had a big role to play in United’s three-match winning run under Carrick.
After keeping a clean sheet in his debut as United beat Sunderland 2-0 in October 2025, the Belgian stopper has remained the first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Altay Bayindir.
Lammens joined in an £18 million deal from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day and instantly brought a level of calm that was lacking whenever Andre Onana or Bayindir played between the sticks.
The noticeable improvements include Lammens’ shot-stopping ability, ability to claim crosses, and distribution.
Perhaps the biggest difference about United, with Lammens as keeper, is the increased emphasis on directness.
Lammens has handled the step up to playing in the Premier League for United. The future looks bright with him between the sticks.
This proves that United’s last transfer deadline day is paying dividends.
Then-head coach Amorim wanted to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, opting for a more experienced option, until United’s board pursued a late deal for Lammens.
United took their time weighing up their options before striking gold and signing a goalkeeper with a ceiling to reach the top in the coming years.
Some United fans will argue that the Lammens deal should have been done sooner, but Ineos can now claim it was better late than never.
It raises the question of whether there are any similar bargain deals around now in the closing hours of the January transfer window.

Man Utd new players show they can handle the pressure
All of United’s summer signings have shown their quality this season, except for Diego Leon, who has yet to make his debut for the club.
Mbeumo and Cunha are among the most dangerous attacking players in the Premier League, while Sesko has shown glimpses of the talent he possesses after moving from the Bundesliga.
Lammens is doing his job brilliantly without as much recognition.
Hopefully, United can keep more clean sheets over the coming weeks, starting on Saturday against Tottenham.
