Crystal Palace considering last-minute move to sign Celtic star - report

Celtic's transfer business has been focused primarily on incomings on transfer deadline day - but there are still slight murmurs of an exit for defender Auston Trusty, according to reports.

The American star has been Celtic's main defensive choice in their backline, especially with Cameron Carter-Vickers being ruled out of action with an achilles issue, and that has seen other clubs take interest in his services.

And it could mean a late move from Palace, with the Eagles needing to replace Marc Guehi after he moved to Manchester City earlier in the window, leaving Oliver Glasner in need of a star man to marshal his defence.

Crystal Palace Looking to Sign Celtic's Auston Trusty

The report by TEAMtalk journalist Graeme Bailey states that Crystal Palace are still looking to bring in a centre-back on transfer deadline day - and they have opened dialogue with Brentford over a potential deal for Ethan Pinnock.

However, Trusty is also a player that they like after his performances at Celtic, and the report states that Palace have looked at the American international as they look to bolster their defence with mere hours left.

Trusty joined Arsenal in January 2022 from Colorado Rapids, though he failed to play for the Gunners, instead continuing his development at the MLS club until the end of the campaign.

From there, he joined Birmingham City on loan in the Championship, before a permanent switch to Sheffield United after their promotion to the top-flight - but 32 games saw them relegated with one of the worst points tallies in Premier League history.

That saw Trusty join Celtic, and he's finally found a home in Scotland, winning two trophies in his time in Glasgow. Brendan Rodgers trusted him in the Champions League and he performed well on the continental stage against Atalanta and Bayern Munich especially. Although Celtic have been slightly more leaky this season, his departure would still be a huge blow to Martin O'Neill.
