Everton seem to be keen on keeping Tim Iroegbunam for the second half of the season.

The defensive midfielder has seen his game time under David Moyes increase this campaign for one reason or another.

The Toffees have been dealt with plenty of injuries, and Iroegbunam has had an important role to play in what can be described as a positive season overall for Everton so far.

The 22-year-old’s performances have drawn mixed opinions from supporters; however, the Blues seem to have made their decision on their Englishman’s future.

Joe Thomas shares likely Tim Iroegbunam outcome

Lazio had a £15million bid for Iroegbunam rejected last week, but the Italian side and others have still kept tabs on the Everton star.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Moyes has had to be patient for his own signings, with Chelsea’s Tyrique George possibly the only new addition for the Toffees.

So, selling Iroegbunam at this stage of the window would seem the wrong choice to make, even if it had financial benefits.

Iroegbunam has played 20 times in all competitions for Everton this season

He has grabbed two assists

According to Joe Thomas, in an update for the Liverpool Echo, the expectation is that the former Aston Villa man will stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium beyond Monday’s transfer deadline.

Thomas wrote: “While there has been interest in Iroegbunam all the way through to deadline day, my understanding is that, as it stands, it is currently expected he will remain at Everton beyond 7pm today.”

Iroegbunam is under contract with the Toffees until the summer of 2027, and he will most likely make a lot more than 20 appearances for Moyes this campaign.

The Friedkin Group have failed to improve one key area

Though George’s potential arrival could be great for both the short-term and long-term of Everton, much more was needed than just a winger this campaign.

Moyes has hopes of guiding the Toffees into a European spot, but he can’t do it without the help of the Friedkin Group.

Everton had a long list of right-backs heading into the transfer window, and they have failed in their attempts to sign any.

Moyes will have to hope that Nathan Patterson can continue to improve his game, following a return from a long absence, as Jake O’Brien clearly isn’t the answer.
