There could be late drama as Birmingham City and West Brom reportedly eye a Nottingham Forest youngster.

Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion are reportedly among a host of Championship clubs pushing for a very late loan swoop for Nottingham Forest left wing-back Kyle McAdam.

Blues and Albion are seemingly eager to address a lack of depth on the left side of defence and McAdam, who was recently recalled by Forest from his loan spell at League One side Mansfield Town, is reportedly a last-gasp target.

This is according to a bold report from Football Fancast, which claims Forest are planning on loaning McAdam back out before the deadline. Birmingham and West Brom are named as two of the Championship clubs said to be pursuing a late deal, while there’s also competition from Leicester City.

It awaits to be seen whether talks have progressed and if a deal sheet has been submitted by any of the potential parties. It could also be a case of the clubs being interested at an earlier stage and the news only filtering through now. Only time will tell, especially now we are beyond the 7pm deadline.

Who is Kyle McAdam?

Forest through and through, academy product McAdam is yet to make an appearance for the senior team but he’s highly thought of at the City Ground. The 21-year-old recently enjoyed his first proper taste of senior football at Mansfield, where he played 15 times in League One, scoring one goal.

One of McAdam’s main strengths is his versatility. The former England Under-16 international is predominantly a left midfielder, left wing-back or left-back, but he can also play as a central midfielder or even as a centre-back. This could well be what the likes of Birmingham, West Brom and Leicester are looking to tap into, as they seek to address several positions at once.

What other Birmingham and West Brom deals could go through?

Birmingham and West Brom could yet announce more deals, even though the window has already slammed shut. As long as Blues and Albion sent off deal sheets to the EFL in time, then further signings can be made for several more hours yet.

At West Brom, meanwhile, it’s expected Crystal Palace youngster Hindolo Mustapha will join on loan for the rest of the season. The Baggies have already brought in Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba on loan from Aston Villa, however yet more depth in attacking midfield was sought. Mustapha should be able to offer that.
