Ethan Wheatley is 'buzzing' to get started with Bradford after completing a loan until the end of the season. The young forward had long been expected to join the Bantams but saw the move stretch out until transfer deadline day.
The Manchester Evening News reported three weeks ago that Wheatley was set to sign for Bradford. Wheatley, 20, was recalled from Northampton last month with a view to sending him out on loan again.
The England youth international made 22 appearances for the Cobblers and scored three goals and provided three assists. Wheatley has also made four appearances for United in his career and spent time on loan at Walsall last term.
Before completing his move to Bradford, there was a moment of controversy last week when Doncaster manager Grant McCann said the club had signed Wheatley. McCann was seen as announcing another side's transfer in his press conference.
But now the deal is done, Wheatley can't wait to get started. The switch sees the youngster move from a loan with a relegation candidate to a promotion hopeful
Wheatley believes he developed at Northampton and wants to put what he learned into practice with the Bantams.
He said, “I am buzzing. We have been in discussions for quite a while, and I am excited to get the deal done and hopefully help the lads for the rest of the season.
"I hope I can add to the side after the strong start they have made and score goals. The last couple of months at Northampton, I grew as a player, and I want to continue doing that here."
Bradford boss Graham Alexander is equally happy and was impressed with his new signing's enthusiasm.
"We are delighted to bring Ethan in to bolster our attacking options," Alexander said.
"He has fantastic attributes for a forward player, with plenty of League One games under his belt this season already.
“He showed a great desire to join us when we spoke, and I believe he is going to enjoy his time with us.”
