Manchester United winger James Scanlon has completed a loan switch to Swinton Town.
While Manchester United have been linked with multiple players throughout the January transfer window, Ineos elected not to add any new signings to Michael Carrick’s squad on deadline day.
It makes sense since United have just 14 games left to play in the Premier League, which likely influenced the recruitment team to set their focus towards the summer transfer window.
However, United’s loanee list has grown further. Talented left-back Harry Amass joined Norwich City until the end of the season before sustaining a worrying injury, and Toby Collyer has signed for Hull City on loan.
Jacob Devaney is expected to join St Mirren on loan in the Scottish Premiership, while Sekou Kone could be set for a temporary move to Switzerland.
The aim for these players is to go away and experience senior football before returning to Carrington in the summer ahead of a pre-season tour.
Now another move has been confirmed.

James Scanlon gets chance to shine in League Two
Many were surprised when United academy star James Scanlon was not sent on loan at the beginning of the season.
The 19-year-old, who is a senior Gibraltar international, has subsequently starred for United’s U21s side with five goals and three assists.

Last week, Scanlon scored a hat-trick in United’s 3-2 win over Sporting CP in the Premier League International Cup.
Scanlon has now joined Swindon Town in League Two for the remainder of the season, as they look to achieve promotion to League One.
Swindon are currently positioned sixth in League Two, meaning Scanlon is joining a competitive outfit, looking to get an edge over their promotion rivals for the remainder of the season.
United will be watching Scanlon’s progress closely to see if he gets a sufficient amount of game time with The Robins.

When could James Scanlon make his Swindon Town debut?
Although Swindon Town take on Harrogate Town in their next League Two fixture tomorrow night, it’s unlikely that Scanlon will feature without training with his new teammates.
While a debut against Harrogate Town may still be a possibility, Scanlon is more than likely going to be kept waiting until Saturday’s clash against Oldham Athletic.
Three days later, Swindon take on Wayne Rooney’s former club, Plymouth, in the Football League Trophy quarter-final.
Scanlon will be aiming to make his debut in Swindon’s upcoming games against Harrogate Town, Oldham Athletic, Plymouth, or Newport County.
