Sheffield United have announced the signing of defender Leo Hjelde from Premier League side Sunderland. He has joined on a loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Norwegian defender started his career at Celtic but failed to make any senior appearances for the club. He spent time at Ross County on loan prior to joining Leeds on a permanent basis in 2021. He moved to Rotherham United on loan during the 2022/23 season, playing 13 times.
He left to join Sunderland in 2024 and was part of the squad that gained promotion back to the Premier League the following season. The Sheffield side currently lies 17th in the table.
