David Ornstein has shared a concern for Crystal Palace over their potential deal for Everton winger Dwight McNeil after the two clubs agreed a last-minute deal.

McNeil had been linked with Nottingham Forest, with former Everton boss Sean Dyche once keen on reuniting with his ex-player.

But Palace swooped in at the eleventh hour after Everton agreed to sign Chelsea youngster Tyrique George on loan with a purchase option, opening the door for McNeil's departure.
The former Burnley winger has struggled badly for game time under David Moyes this season, starting just seven Premier League matches out of 18 total appearances across all competitions.
He's managed only one assist in that time, falling well down the pecking order at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Palace weren't even prioritising wide players today after completing the club-record signing of Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in a deal that could hit £48 million, which has been confirmed despite Jean-Philippe Mateta failing his AC Milan medical due to knee concerns.

But journalist Alex Crook revealed Palace have now submitted a deal sheet for McNeil, buying themselves crucial extra time to get the transfer over the line after the deadline passes.

However, while Palace and Everton have agreed a deal, Ornstein suggests on X that there is no guarantee this transfer happens — considering how late in the day it is.

Even with a deal sheet submitted, Oliver Glasner's side have just one hour to finalise all the paperwork and documentation, so the signing isn't a foregone conclusion just yet.
The potential signing has absolutely enraged Palace fans on social media.
Football Insider shared supporters calling the business "sickening," "embarrassing," and a "disaster," with many demanding sporting director Matt Hobbs be sacked immediately.
Fans reckon spending £20 million on a winger they don't need when sitting just five points above the relegation zone represents shocking planning.
