Cobblers have signed two Nottingham Forest youngsters on deadline day, securing late deals for Kyle McAdam and Ben Hammond.
McAdam, a 21-year-old who can play anywhere down the left side or as a number 10, spent the first half of the season on loan at fellow League One side Mansfield Town, making seven starts and seven substitute appearances in all competitions, scoring once.
Explaining why he returned to Forest in the middle of January, Mansfield manager Nigel Clough said: “When Kyle first came in, I thought for the first six to eight weeks he was absolutely brilliant. After a couple of knocks he didn’t quite reach the same standard.
“Like most young players Kyle needs to play and with us being quite strong on the left-hand side, we have some good options there. In liaison with Forest, we want Kyle to go and get some game-time elsewhere and wish him all the very best for the future.”

McAdam played 20 times for Forest in Premier League 2 in 2024/25 as well as making three EFL Trophy appearances. He was skipper of the Forest B team that won the Premier League International Cup by beating Lyon in a penalty shoot-out at the City Ground last season.
Forest B team-mate Hammond, who is the same age, can play in either defence or midfield and is a Wales Under-21 international.
"Ben is a player who caught our eye when we have seen him play for Forest on a number of occasions," said Kevin Nolan. “He can play in a back three or in central midfield and can perform either role well. He has a great attitude, a strong will to win and he is a player we are delighted to welcome to the club."
When Hammond signed a new deal with Forest in 2024, the club’s head of academy Chris McGuane said: "We’re delighted to have rewarded Ben for his hard work with a new contract. Ben is a local boy from Nottingham and has been at the club now for 11 years but consistently continues to develop, learn and improve his game.”
