Aston Villa confirm fresh loan challenge for Louie Barry after Sheffield United spell

Aston Villa have sent Louie Barry back on loan to Stockport County after unsuccessful loan spells at Hull City and Sheffield United.

The 22-year-old was prolific across two loan stints at Stockport, catching the eye of clubs in the Championship.

A step up to the second tier looked to be a natural progression for the versatile attacker, who can operate out wide or up front.

It did not work out for Barry or Selles at Bramall Lane and neither were on the books of the Blades by January 3.

Louie Barry back out on loan

Barry has now returned to familiar surroundings, heading to League One outfit Stockport for his third spell at Edgeley Park.

Hatters boss Dave Challinor said: “Whether Louie plays a massive part, a small part or even no part, the desire for all parties to reunite him back with the football club was unanimous.

“His connection with the club has become a special one from both sides and the impact he has had within our team when playing has been huge.

“He’s obviously returning from an injury which required surgery, and we are in the hands of the medical teams as to when he returns. He’s stepping up his rehab and should be back running in the coming week or so and, all things being equal, we may see him back out on the pitch somewhere around the middle of March.

“If it’s quicker, fantastic, if it’s not, then so be it. We are doing this as a ‘possibility’ signing, but are very clear as to what could or could not happen.

“Regardless, it’s great to welcome Louie back and no doubt as the weeks pass, anticipation will increase, and I know for certain Louie’s motivation to get back out on Edgeley Park will be through the roof.”
