The winter transfer window is now closed – and Everton only made one new signing.

Official confirmation is yet to come, but the Toffees have taken Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season, in a deal which also includes a “significant” purchase option – according to Sky Sports.
Dwight McNeil has also left in a £20m move to Crystal Palace, so it is one in, one out for Everton.
However, free agents can be signed outside of a transfer window, and there are a trio of England internationals who David Moyes might feel could bring something different to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
One in and one out on deadline day… what’s your thoughts, Toffees? 😬

Raheem Sterling, Jesse Lingard and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain on the free agent market
A trio who can boast a combined total of 149 caps for England remain available to The Friedkin Group on free transfers in Raheem Sterling, Jesse Lingard and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Everton actually considered Sterling back in the summer when deciding whether to sign the Liverpool academy graduate or Jack Grealish, and he recently became available after mutually agreeing to terminate his deal at Chelsea.
In regards to Lingard, the former Manchester United star became a free agent in December 2025 after also mutually agreeing to terminate his contract at FC Seoul in South Korea.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been without a club the longest out of the trio, having been paid off by Besiktas in August.
Sterling is 31, while Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lingard are 32 and 33 years of age respectively.
Clearly, they would not be long-term options for Everton as they all begin to enter the latter stages of their respective careers, but with 780 Premier League appearances between them and 149 England caps as aforesaid, Moyes might be attracted to signing at least one of them for their experience, in our view.
David Moyes is a big fan of Jesse Lingard
After losing Jack Grealish for the rest of the season with a broken foot, it wouldn’t surprise us to see Everton move for Lingard.
The man born in Warrington has previously played some of the best football of his career under Moyes, memorably scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances on loan at West Ham playing for the Glaswegian.
Lingard is in talks with Premier League clubs… 👀

Moyes has often praised Lingard in the media, once saying: “I am really pleased for Jesse. (England recall is) great for him and his performances have warranted it in how he has played for us. He has helped us, he has been a good acquisition for the squad.”
It remains to be seen if Everton do any further business after signing George, but at least when it comes to Lingard or Sterling, it would not be a major shock for us if the Toffees explored a deal.
