The Lilywhites have announced their second signing of the January transfer window
Preston North End have signed Andrew Moran on a permanent deal from Brighton.
The Republic of Ireland international becomes PNE’s second signing of the transfer window. Moran, 22, has penned a three-and-a-half year contract at Deepdale with option for a further. Reports from The Athletic suggest a fee of £1m plus add-ons.
Moran had three loan spells away from Brighton, whom he joined in 2021 from Bray Wanderers. The last of those was in the MLS with LAFC; Moran also spent time in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.
Across his stints with those two clubs, Moran registered eight goals and 15 assists from 80 outings. He was under contract until 2028 with the Seagulls, whom he made three first team appearances for.
On joining PNE, he told the club: I’m delighted to be here. It's really exciting. You can see how well the team's doing and how well they're working together. It's a place I think any player would want to come and play, looking in from the outside.
“The lads have done a great job over this season. Some of the results they've been picking up have been excellent and the league position says that. So, I’m very excited to be here now.”
Manager Paul Heckingbottom added: “Andy is someone we've been speaking to for a bit in the window. We’re delighted to have got another one who is our player, a young player, who has competed in the Championship and is a full international.
“He’s a good age, so it's a really good signing, not only for now for the club, but what we want to do going forward as well.”
