The former Rangers player has found minutes limited at Premier League with Everton.
The reasons why a former Rangers star did not leave Everton on deadline day have been made clear.
Nathan Patterson left Ibrox where he came through the academy for the Premier League in January 2022 but his time down south hasn’t been a total success. He’s been plagued by fitness issues and lack of selection at times under various managers but has slowly started working his way into the fold under David Moyes.
Amid ambition to reach Steve Clarke’s Scotland World Cup squad, Genoa in Italy were said to be a loan option for Patterson on the final day of the winter window. However, a happiness at Everton and desire to compete for minutes there sees him stay put.

Why Nathan Patterson stayed at Everton
Sky’s reporting states: “Nathan Patterson is staying at Everton. The Toffees have turned down Genoa’s approaches for the right-back. The player is also happy to stay at Goodison Park and keep competing for minutes. Patterson has started three out the last five Premier League games. Brooke Norton-Cuffy is also staying at Genoa.
Meanwhile, Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has been looking ahead to Wednesday’s Premiership clash with Kilmarnock, as they sit six points off leaders Hearts, after Sunday’s draw at Hibs. He said: “We expected a tough game, I think we know that as an opponent they always try something and fight for something. We tried our best, of course we want to win. It is important to get points and points but today I have to accept this point for my group.
“They put a lot of effort in; we were in some moments not clinical enough and then at the end both teams tried to win this game. There was a lot of open moments in both directions. Finally, it is about the next game and this is on Wednesday and we have to deliver then.
Danny Rohl on Hibs 0-0 Rangers
“In general in such a game it is about small details and being clinical. Especially in the final third there was not so many spaces what you can attack. In the first half we missed players in the box, we had too many players behind the ball instead of to be aggressive with runs into the box. This was a topic at half time that we needed aggressive runs and everybody wants to score.
“You then had some moment I think it was close with Mikey Moore with the offside situation, but it is football. I said this many times it is about our direction, and there will be in some moments up and down in the race, it is about that we are calm, but very clear that we want to go and this is what I see at the moment from my group.
“They know where we want to go, they have a direction. They are hungry for more; we are disappointed but we carry on and Wednesday is the next job to do. In general my group did really well in the last couple of weeks. They were always on the front foot, took a lot of wins and this is the picture, with this picture I have totally believe in the conviction that we go in the right direction.”
