Forest did need some new additions to the squad, and ultimately, the players now have a responsibility to ensure that the Reds remain in the Premier League.

Naturally, the signings aren’t big-money deals and Jody Morris – formerly of Derby County – has claimed he holds reservations over one of the deals.

Nottingham Forest signing Stefan Ortega slammed

The German stopper has signed for a very small £500,000 from Manchester City after falling to fourth choice under Pep Guardiola.

Morris doesn’t believe Ortega will be a particularly good signing for Forest, having been unimpressed by him at City.

He said on Sky Sports News: “I wasn’t a massive fan of him at City, if I’m being honest.

“I imagine City loved how good he was with his feet, but I’m not sure Sean Dyche is going to be asking him to do the same at Forest.

“They clearly feel they need one. It’s a totally different ball game with him going into a relegation battle; he’s going to be called upon a lot more at Forest.”

Ortega will be fine for Forest

It’s hard to be disappointed with the signing of Ortega from a Forest perspective, with the player boasting bags of experience.

The stopper should be fine as an understudy to Matz Sels, although he might have to play at Leeds with the Belgian injured against Crystal Palace.

Ortega was a regular in the team for a part of last season and was also considered the cup goalkeeper under Guardiola.

Forest have only spent £500,000 on a proven Premier League goalkeeper and it’s very surprising that Morris has chosen to dismiss the signing from a Reds perspective.
