Aston Villa’s squad is set for the remainder of the campaign as Unai Emery’s side targets a return to the Champions League and silverware.
Villa have been installed by many as favourites to win the Europa League and have added three new players to their first-team squad, as well as reintegrating Leon Bailey.
The Jamaica international was recalled from AS Roma, while Tammy Abraham replaced Donyell Malen, who headed to the Italian capital, for £18 million. Douglas Luiz was also brought in for a £1.7 million loan fee to cover Youri Tielemans’ two-month absence through injury.
Meanwhile, £10 million-rated Alysson will get his chance to impress when he returns from injury, but teenage striker Brian Madjo - signed for a similar fee - is not expected to see much involvement in first-team matchday squads after his move from FC Metz.
With Ollie Watkins missing the match against Brentford due to injury, Abraham led the line on Sunday, alongside Luiz.
With Tielemans sidelined for another eight weeks, Luiz is expected to be given plenty of game time, with Amadou Onana seen as the ideal partner for the Brazilian.
However, Onana was left on the bench against Brentford after suffering from muscle fatigue.
Abraham will be pushing Watkins for starts, but Emery is expected to favour the latter once he returns to full fitness, which could be as early as this weekend.
