Everton player was evaluated as late ‘transfer option’ – Injury update impacted deal

During the January transfer window, Bologna emerged as a suitor for Everton’s Nathan Patterson.

Corriere di Bologna claimed that the Toffees offered the Italian side a chance to sign the defender in a move for Emil Holm. A player plus cash move was put forward.

This attempt was rejected, as Bologna weren’t happy with the deal on offer. On deadline day, the Swede joined Juventus on an initial loan deal.

It seems like the Everton player was of interest to another club in Italy.

CalcioNapoli24 report Napoli were looking at possible right-back options late into the window.

This was mainly because of a knee injury that Giovanni di Lorenzo picked up at the weekend. There was uncertainty about the extent of that injury, leading to the Italian champions considering Everton’s Patterson as a ‘transfer option’.

The Scotsman’s profile stood out in Naples due to drive and athleticism, despite his lack of game time this season.

However, Napoli were informed Di Lorenzo’s knee issue wasn’t serious. The Italian managed to avoid cruciate damage, making sure that a formal move for Patterson wasn’t made.

This season, the 24-year-old has played only eight times in all competitions. In the Premier League, he has featured for only 239 minutes.

The fact that Napoli have an admiration for Patterson shows that his stock remains high, despite ongoing struggles.
