Leeds United approached for out of window transfer – Talks held with Whites player’s agent

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has lost prominence at Elland Road and hasn’t made an appearance this season.

Daniel Farke has used Lucas Perri and Karl Darlow ahead of the Frenchman since Leeds United returned to the Premier League.

Meslier has less than six months left on his contract. This, coupled with his situation with the Whites has brought interest.

Last month, the Spanish media stated Valencia goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad personally contacted Meslier to register their interest. A move depended on Stole Dimitrievski leaving Mestalla in the winter market and that didn’t happen.

The transfer window in both UK and Spain closed on Monday. He can leave Farke’s side to a league where the winter market is still open. Beşiktaş are exploring the possibility of signing the Leeds United player as the window there is open until Friday.

That’s according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a short update.

On Monday, Sabah reported the Black Eagles have held talks over a move for the 25-year-old. Filip Jörgensen was initially identified as the main target, but Chelsea refused to let him leave.

The Black Eagles weren’t successful in their efforts to sign Santos goalkeeper Brazao. This has seen them shift their focus on the Leeds United man.

Sabuncuoğlu now pick up on Sabah’s report and add that the Turkish club have contacted both Farke’s side and his camp.

Beşiktaş approached the English club to find out the conditions needed to Meslier before the Turkish window closes on February 6th. The journalist adds talks have also been held with the stopper’s agent.

There’s no indication how talks have progressed between Beşiktaş and Meslier’s representatives.
