The winter transfer window slammed shut last night, and Everton managed to get one deal done in the shape of Tyrique George.

George explained that David Moyes was a key reason for joining in his first interview with the club: “The gaffer, David Moyes, was another reason (I wanted to join).
“He’s an amazing manager who has coached so many players, like Wayne Rooney, and players like that. I’ve had a brief conversation with him and he’s an amazing person as well.”
Ultimately though, it was a disappointing window for Everton as they failed to sign a striker and a right-back, which were reportedly two priority positions.
That said, as we reflect on the winter window, we’ve revisited the craziest transfer rumour that never came true.
Deadline day is now done… what’s your thoughts, Toffees? 😬

The Toffees reportedly made a move to sign Romelu Lukaku at one stage, with Napoli open to sanctioning his exit.
The Friedkin Group asked the Italian outfit about the conditions of the deal, but talks never reached an advanced stage.
Lukaku has remained at Napoli and recently returned from injury after spending the entire season on the sidelines.
It remains to be seen whether he will become available again in the summer, so perhaps there is a chance Everton could revisit a deal then.

Everton should still sign a striker in the summer
Everton cancelled the search for a striker after the rise in form of Thierno Barry over the last month, or so.
Barry’s four goals in his last six games were enough for Moyes and his recruitment staff focus on signing a winger instead.

However, that shouldn’t be the case when the summer window opens. It’s still pretty evident that Barry needs a proven and prolific goalscorer to compete with him.
That will only improve the Frenchman, too, as he can be mentored by a more experienced centre-forward.
Plus, the Toffees can then cash in on Beto, who will only have one year remaining on his contract at that point.
