“I have very direct sources” – Regret about West Ham signing, would have been ‘perfect’ for manager

West Ham signed Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea very late in the January transfer window.

The centre-back is yet to play this season and the move to the Hammers will give him a chance to get playing time.

Before a switch to West Ham, Disasi had emerged as an option for clubs in Italy.

Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport spoke of Fiorentina’s interest in the 27-year-old. They had also held key talks for the defender.

More recently, Calciomercato reported that AC Milan were also a suitor. Rossoneri sporting director Igli Tare prepared to make a late push and waited for Chelsea’s approval.

It seems like there is still some regret in Milan about the failure to sign the centre-back.

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti spoke about Disasi on his Youtube channel. The Italian made it clear that the Chelsea player could’ve been perfect for Max Allegri. He also clarified that the manager was keen on him and his opinion didn’t play a role in the deal falling through.

He said – relayed by MilanNews: “First of all, let’s be very clear. I read today that Disasi probably won’t come, also because Allegri doesn’t like him. I’m telling you this out loud, it’s not true.”

“If Disasi had arrived, it would have been perfect for Allegri; he was one of the players Allegri had said OK . Of course, depending on the market, costs, and opportunities, Tare would have developed, but for Allegri it was perfect.”

Pellegatti further emphasised that other reasons were behind Disasi moving to West Ham.

“I have very direct sources on this matter, so if I tell you that it was perfect for Allegri, it was perfect. Then other evaluations will have been made, and I don’t know about the other evaluations.”

“As for the fact that they’re trying to combine the non-arrival with Allergi, that’s not true. It was perfect for Allegri .”

Milan did not end up signing a centre-back after missing out on Disasi. That is probably why the failure to sign Disasi is causing regret.

But Allegri’s thoughts about the Frenchman probably didn’t impact his future. This is because Di Marzio reported some days ago that the Blues outcast was keen on staying in London. This was impacting a possible move to Italy.

This played a key role in Milan missing out on Disasi, who had also spent a loan stint at Aston Villa last season.

While the player hasn’t made an appearance this season, he is someone who will be willing to make a mark in the second half of the campaign with West Ham.
