Should Axel Disasi start crucial match vs Burnley?

By Louis Nixon

**The Hammers managed to secure the signature of Axel Disasi on Deadline Day, but with just four days until the Burnley fixture, should he start for the Hammers?**

Despite leaving it super late, the Hammers managed to secure another signing this January window and after trying for two years, David Sullivan managed to finally convince the defender to join.

It also required some Nuno persuasion to actually secure Disasi for six months and this was supposedly due to the Frenchman being worried about his limited game time.

With that being said, given that he’s now officially in a West Ham shirt, you’d suspect that Nuno did confirm to him that he will start against Burnley and most likely play alongside Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Questions are raised for the future, given that after Jean-Clair Todibo’s three-game absence, he will return to the starting squad, but it puts Nuno and Disasi in a difficult position. The only other way to play would be to drop Mavropanos, therefore forming the French triangle trio.

We can’t have possibly told Disasi, “you’ll be starting three matches and then the rest will be off the bench”, I highly doubt that he would’ve accepted that proposal.

If Nuno will be up to his usual games of substituting on a defender for the future, it needs to be anyone but Kilman. Despite not being favoured by a large majority of our fanbase, there’s a bizarre chance that he might save our season. Being forced to play Kilman against Burnley, Manchester United and Burton would’ve been a miserable reality, at least now we stand a chance!

Whilst Jean-Clair’s heat in the moment bust up may have been admirable for a few minutes, the gap that was left in our defence due to the red card was a massive blow beneath the belt, so Disasi simply had to be signed whether we wanted or not.

I do seriously believe there’s a significant possibility that Axel Disasi could become very good for the Hammers. He’s a gifted player but needs to grow his confidence as well as iron out his inconsistencies in order to reach the top level.
