Italian giants Juventus were planning a late, serious push to sign Radu Drăgușin from Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day.
That’s according to Tutto Juve. The website reports on a behind the scenes story involving Drăgușin and Juventus.
According to their information, while Tottenham teammate Randa Kolo Muani was hogging the headlines, Drăgușin was also in the mix for the Italian side.
Juventus’ management had been planning for the possible departure of a defender. They, therefore, inquired about the Romanian centre-back while Roma were also pressing hard.
Their idea was to ‘try seriously’ to move at the end of the transfer window and secure a loan deal. They were hoping to work out a deal that would have suited Tottenham in the final hours of the window.
Inter Milan and AC Milan were also interested under the same terms. However, Tottenham completely closed the door to the idea on January 30th. They’ve been beset by injuries, the latest coming in defence, and decided there would be no exits from Thomas Frank’s squad.
They also felt, given the lateness of the deal, that there would be no time to find a replacement on the market. So, Juventus’s idea was shut down completely, perhaps being postponed until the summer transfer window.
