Nottingham Forest once again were juggling more balls than most as the intensity of transfer deadline day increased.

Having spent the day bidding for Celtic’s Arne Engels, with three offers rejected, they also tried to prise Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough.

As the dust settles on a day that saw only Luca Netz arrive from from Borussia Monchengladbach, for a reported £2million fee, it has also been claimed the Reds were working on other targets.

Fabrizio Romano reckons Forest and AS Roma made ‘official proposals’ to Wolverhampton Wanderers for David Moller Wolfe, with the Reds putting together a deal with £14m, which was rejected by the Black Country outfit. Forest then went on to sign Netz.

Wolves had already rejected out of hand Roma’s £6.9m bid the previous week, with the left back only arriving from AZ Alkmaar in the summer for £10m.

Meanwhile ESPN NL has claimed that ‘in the final hours’ Forest bid €20m, around £17.2m, for NEC Nijmegen’s Kodai Sano, they add Ajax were keen but have since withdrawn their interest.

The 22-year-old joined NEC from Fagiano Okayama in the summer of 2023 since when he has played 81 times in the middle of the park. The report adds the Japanese is likely to move on in the summer.
