Manchester United chose not to make any mid-season signings in the January transfer window, but that is a compliment to the business done in the summer.
Since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United’s recruitment has been well below par.
Despite spending billions, it’s hard to pick more than a handful of players who have arrived at Old Trafford and had a lasting impact.

In the summer of 2025, Ineos invested another £232m on five new signings to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Overall, it was judged as a successful window for United, but in time, it could become a truly iconic season of signings.

Man United’s 2025/26 transfer window is aging incredibly
It is far too early to consider United’s signings in 2025/26 as an overwhelming success, but it is certainly heading in that direction.
Bryan Mbeumo is United’s top scorer this season after arriving from Brentford in a £65 million deal. He has added composure and quality to the final third that has been seriously lacking in recent years.

Matheus Cunha has become a Manchester maverick. He immediately became a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and the Brazilian is enjoying a strong run of form that is quickly justifying his £62.5 million fee.
Despite Gary Neville’s criticism of Benjamin Sesko earlier in the season, the Slovenian striker is also finding his feet in Manchester. His winning goal against Fulham was his best moment so far, but there is so much more to come from the 22-year-old.
How do you predict Benjamin Sesko’s career at Manchester United will go?
It's early – but let's see your predictions!

The attacking additions to the squad have all made a big impact, but the signing of Senne Lammens is perhaps the biggest success story for Ineos.
Instead of paying more for a veteran goalkeeper such as Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ineos stuck to their data-driven approach and signed Lammens for £18 million. He has been a revelation in goal, adding confidence and composure to the whole back line.
Man United signings have time to become club icons
Because of Ineos’ transfer strategy at United, all four of the major signings made in the summer are young and still yet to enter their prime.
Mbeumo and Cunha are the more experienced of the signings, and they arrived with Premier League experience. But both players are stepping up and taking on the responsibility of leading United’s attack.
If they continue as they have started, they have plenty of years to write their names into the club’s history books.

The same goes for Sesko and Lammens. At 22 and 23 years old respectively, they are still so young but have already proven they can compete in the Premier League.
It’s important to not get too carried away, but it’s also blindingly clear that this season’s signings could be remembered as the best since Ferguson’s exit, and in a few years, it could be looked back on with awe.
