Sunderland have completed the signing of Nottingham Forest full-back Caragh Hamilton on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 29-year-old Northern Ireland international defender joined Nottingham Forest in summer 2024 after leaving former Barclays WSL2 club Lewes following their relegation to the third tier. Hamilton was an FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title winner with The Tricky Trees last season. Hamilton has gone on to make 40 appearances in all competitions for Nottingham Forest in total. The player has been competing on a professional level for the last two-and-a-half years.
On the international stage, Hamilton has been capped by Northern Ireland on 53 occasions while she has scored seven goals.
After adding Hamilton to her squad, Sunderland boss Melanie Reay said “Caragh joins us with a wealth of Championship and international experience. Adding strength and depth to our back-line, we are pleased she will be finishing the season with us on Wearside.”
Hamilton is Sunderland’s second Transfer Deadline Day signing. The Wearside club have also added Manchester United midfielder Mared Griffiths to their squad on a loan deal until the end of the season.
