Leeds United
After a promising start to January, Leeds United ended the transfer window on a very disappointing note. Things were going smoothly at Elland Road over the past month.
Daniel Farke had seen the team turn a corner; his tactical changes and personnel decisions saw Leeds go on an unbeaten run. However, it came to a brutal end when Arsenal beat them by four goals last weekend. What will frustrate the club’s fanbase is how the transfer deadline ended.

Just like in the summer window, Leeds had expectations of landing a big target only to miss out in the final hours. The Whites signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan for the rest of the season, and were reportedly going to follow it up with the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen. However, the club had a bid rejected and Crystal Palace eventually swooped in to sign the 25-year old.
Goalkeeping situation to be addressed at Leeds United this summer
Leeds United ended the window with just one signing to the first team, but did loan out Jack Harrison and Harry Gray. Despite what is going on in the club’s goalkeeping department, never once did the Whites attempt to bring in a new signing. As of Monday, Karl Darlow, Alex Cairns and Illan Meslier are all out of contract. Meslier’s case is a very interesting one since many at the club expected him to depart in the summer.
With Leeds set to lose three goalkeepers, it almost guarantees that some signings will be made in that department. Renewing any first team players is not ideal at this point of the season where the club’s future has not been determined. So any potential renewals will probably be done at the end of the campaign.

What happens to Lucas Perri?
The Brazilian was signed to become the first choice goalkeeper, but he is yet to convince most of the fanbase. In recent weeks, Daniel Farke has taken the decision to bench Perri for Karl Darlow. But that may be cut short because of what happened in the game against Arsenal last weekend. Going into the summer, it is very likely there will be a new goalkeeper signed. Whether the new signing will replace Perri will be another decision the club will have to make. There is a very high chance that the Brazilian remains for at least another season due to the investment made in him and his current contract.
