Man United fans make their feelings clear on Ineos not making any January signings

Manchester United were linked to several players over January, but Ineos decided to wait until the summer.

The January transfer window has now closed without Manchester United making any major additions to the first-team squad.

The month started with United showing interest in Antoine Semenyo, but he ended up snubbing a move to Old Trafford in favour of joining Manchester City.

There were also links to Ruben Neves as a midfield option, but it seems Ineos prefer to wait until the summer when top targets such as Elliot Anderson may be available.

United fans have been voting on a poll on whether or not they are worried about not making any signings, and interestingly, 69% of supporters are not concerned.

One reader wrote: “No real stand-out options that we could have signed on loan, so I can understand why they were reluctant to add to the squad. There are only 14 games left to play this season. It is best to keep the money until the summer.”

Another added: “No. It sends a positive message of the club’s confidence in the current squad’s ability to do the job. This, with the recent good run of results should reassure the fans. It also means there’ll be more in the ‘kitty’ for the Summer transfer window.”

A third commented: “No need to be worried. Even without reinforcements we have managed to overcome the big hitters! We will be in the Champions League next season, and our academy players will have had more experience. We have great talent coming through, and I believe a few midfield additions in the summer will suffice.”

“I think it is wise to wait, thinking about injuries such a good position to qualify for Champions League. As long it does not come back to bite us,” Another reader added.

Ineos will be judged by 2026 summer transfer window

United supporters are clearly not concerned by the lack of signings made in January.

Considering that United are already out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, they will play just 40 matches all season so it is not like Carrick will need depth in his squad.

Instead, United need quality additions, and they are only available in the summer. Anderson and Adam Wharton will be the top targets for midfield, and they will require huge transfer fees.

Saving money in January was the best decision to set up United for a big summer. But, the plan only works *if* United spend big in the summer and land their targets.

An underwhelming summer window would raise more concerns.
