Micah Richards defends Leeds United after Gary Lineker claim

Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer were discussing team’s chances of survival after this weekend’s results. Shearer says the defeat to Arsenal is not a big deal:

“They looked really good, really powerful, really strong, tough place to go because you know that crowd. Even at 2-0 down, the crowd were going crazy at Leeds, and if Leeds had got the next goal, you’re thinking ‘oh what’s going to happen’, but they just got the third and the fourth,”

“That was also a big result by the way for Forest and Leeds and Palace with Chelsea winning as well.”

Lineker then replied – “I bet at half time they were going ‘oh my god, we’re in trouble here.'”

Micah Richards replied Lineker, saying that Leeds are good enough to pick up points even after their huge defeat:

“What are they, five points adrift now? See, because you always think Leeds are going to pick up points now.” he added.

January window could affect the club

Leeds United went into the January window looking for major reinforcements and only ended up signing one player. The Whites were hell bent on adding a center forward, but missed the opportunity to bring in Jorgen Strand Larsen. Leaving the deal because of the transfer fee is understandable, but failing to go after an alternative could end up costing the club.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been great this season, but there is always the feeling that he could go down injured at anytime. And Lukas Nmecha has been rarely available over the last month, the club could have done with a new attacker but could now be left with Joel Piroe if an injury issue. The second half of the season will be an interesting run of games.
