The Toffees approached Fulham to ask about the Wales international one more time before the winter window closed at 7pm on Monday – sensing an opportunity with his contract expiring in July.

Fulham managed to successfully shoo Everton away from Harry Wilson on this occasion – and the Standard have now provided an update on the situation.

Fulham confident they will keep Harry Wilson

Having missed out on deadline day, Everton are presumably going to make another attempt at signing the Welshman this summer when he could become a free agent – barring a breakthrough in contract talks at Craven Cottage.

The Standard now state that Fulham believe that breakthrough will materialise, with the Cottagers said to be confident about keeping the 28-year-old in west London beyond this coming summer.

The report reiterates a detail revealed in January when alluding to the fact Wilson might wait for Marco Silva to decide on his own future before making a decision – the former Everton boss has also entered the final six months of his contract at Fulham.

However, the Standard point to the £27m signing of Oscar Bobb from Manchester City as reason to explain why insiders at Craven Cottage are optimistic about keeping the Portuguese tactician around, and consequently Wilson too.

Everton have a chance at Harry Wilson deal if he does end up leaving Fulham

If Fulham find this confidence to be misjudged and do end up losing Wilson this summer, Everton would appear to have a decent chance at securing his signature.

TEAMtalk have claimed that the Liverpool academy graduate is keen to return to the north of England if he cannot agree fresh terms with Fulham.

Wilson left Merseyside to seal a £12m move to Fulham back in 2022, but has a strong connection to that part of the world having spent almost 20 years with Liverpool – joining the academy in 2005.

Deadline day is now done… what’s your thoughts, Toffees? 😬
